The Raspberry Pi Case for Raspberry Pi 5 is the manufacturer's official enclosure in red and white. It consists of four parts that clip together without tools and keeps the Raspberry Pi 5 within a comfortable temperature range even under sustained load.
Cooling centres on an axial fan seated in the lid frame above the processor and connected to the four-pin fan header of the Raspberry Pi 5. It is controlled by pulse width modulation according to temperature and reports its speed back over a tachometer signal. Air is drawn in through a slot running around the underside of the lid, passed over the heatsink stuck to the processor, and exhausted through the connector apertures and vents in the base.
Compared with the case for the Raspberry Pi 4, the enclosure was lengthened and the retention features revised, so the microSD card can be changed without removing the board. The button in the lid operates the power button of the Raspberry Pi 5. With the lid removed, the fan, the mounting points and a breakout slot for cables such as the GPIO header are exposed.

Notes
The case is intended for the Raspberry Pi 5 only. Operate it in a well-ventilated environment and do not cover it.
The fan assembly with its transparent surround can be unclipped from the white frame if the case is to be used without the fan. If the Raspberry Pi Active Cooler is to be used instead, the fan assembly and the supplied heatsink must be removed first; both can be refitted later.
HATs can be mounted on top of the case using stand-offs and a GPIO header extender. Neither is included. The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ Compact is shaped to fit inside the case alongside the built-in fan with the lid closed. The standard M.2 HAT+ can only be used if the lid and the fan are removed.
Holes are provided in the base and in the transparent part of the fan assembly for stacking several cases or for mounting cases and HATs. During assembly, make sure the fan connector is inserted the correct way round and fully into the header marked FAN on the Raspberry Pi 5. Do not touch the fan while it is running.
A Raspberry Pi 5 is not included.
Applications
The case suits continuous operation of a Raspberry Pi 5 in offices, laboratories, education and light industrial installations. The stacking option allows several computers to be arranged side by side or on top of each other in a small footprint, for example for small clusters, build and test systems, or monitoring tasks. The removable lid section with its cable breakout also makes the case usable in builds with attached sensors, cameras or GPIO peripherals.
