Compact DC-DC step-down module with a wide input range of 5 to 36 V. The module ships configured for a 5 V output with an input range of 6 to 36 V, and can be switched to 3.3 V by resoldering an onboard resistor, which changes the input range to 5 to 36 V. Output current is up to 4 A at an efficiency of approximately 90 %. Measuring 33 × 16 × 5.7 mm with immersion-gold castellated holes, it is designed to be embedded directly into your own assemblies.

Product overview

The Waveshare DC-DC Buck Mini Module is a compact step-down converter for powering your own circuits. It accepts an input voltage of 5 to 36 V and provides a regulated output of either 5 V or 3.3 V. The module is supplied in the 5 V configuration; resoldering a 0 ohm resistor to the 3.3 V side switches the output to 3.3 V. The board uses a black immersion-gold finish and can be soldered directly onto a carrier board via its castellated holes.

Notes

Switching to 3.3 V requires resoldering a resistor on the board and cannot be done with a switch. The manufacturer states that up to 5 A is possible under extreme conditions, but only with adequate heat dissipation. Please check which of the two versions you require before ordering.

Powering microcontrollers, sensors and radio modules, converting 12 V or 24 V supply rails down to 5 V or 3.3 V, and use in control systems, measurement equipment and custom device designs where board space is limited.
